One of Lancaster City, PA's Best Airbnbs

Lancaster Mill Stay

Located in the beautiful, rolling hills of Northern Lancaster County

Meet the Hosts

Hi – We are Joel and Stephanie. I am an architect and have worked hard to try and create a beautiful and unique place for you to stay!

My wife is a marriage and family therapist – she is also our book keeper.

While I manage the Airbnb she makes clothes for our grandkids!

We have four kids and eight grandkids.

We have lived in Lancaster for over 20 years . My architectural firm is a two minute walk from this place – so we are very hands on!

House guidelines

  • Blinds – just pull on the bottom to lower them.
  • Drinks and snacks are free – help yourself!
  • Hot water may take a minute or two to arrive.
  • Don’t hit your head on the closet unit in the bedroom – we will be moving it closer to the wall.
  • Toilet – the blue flush button is on the right side. Please do not flush anything other than toilet paper!
  • The intersection by the house is quite busy – please be careful coming and going!

Check-In

The county REQUIRES each guest and their party to fill out a manifest form in case of emergency. You can find the form in the welcome binder. Please fill out one form per party and place the paper inside of the drop box outside the house.

Check Out

Turn off lights and return the key to the lockbox. We’ll do the rest!

Gristmill history

Bechtel’s Mill was originally build in 1777. After a fire, the 3.5 story, 42’X 52′ grist mill was rebuilt to 2.5 stories.

In the the 1930’s, the mill was converted into a creamery after almost 100 years of operating as a flour, grist, saw, and cider mill.

At peak performance, records say the mill produced eight barrels of flour in a day!

Restoring Since 2023

Since purchasing the mill at auction in May of 2023, we continue to work hard carefully updating the space, while preserving and restoring the historical elements.

Fishing & Exploring

  • The pond is here to enjoy – no permit is required for fishing.
  • Fishing poles can be found in the shed. The shed code is “silly” Please return the rods and lock up when you are done.
  • Boat – use with caution! Each person in the boat should have a life jacket and anyone 12 and under needs to wear it!
  • There is a path on the right of the pond meet the road about one acre in. Keep in mind – the grass does get quite long!
